- In 2007 and 2008 MESH has been working with the UK based operations of the Discovery Channel. From an initial brief to develop emergency response systems, the MESH involvement has evolved to ensure Discovery are consistently achieving compliance and best practice throughout Europe, The Middle East, and Africa.
As part of this work, MESH has developed an emergency reponse protocol to apply initially to the London office of 600 staff. One element of which has been to undertake a full fire risk assessment in compliance with fire safety regulations.
- MESH undertook a fire risk assessment for a computer company based in Fareham, Hampshire. The company were concerned about the implications of the new Fire Safety Reform Order on its head office premises. MESH has helped the company to make sense of the regulations and identify where controls could be improved to both minimise risk and achieve compliance.
- MESH has undertaken a series of fire risk
assessments for the Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication.
The college hosts around 1600 students and 300 staff and spreads across
a large site, surrounded by residential housing. These assessments
form the basis of the college’s plans to control the risks from
fire as required under the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations.
Fire provisions, staff training, signage and emergency arrangements
were all updated as a result of the assessments.
- MESH worked with the management of Bethany
nursing homes to undertake a full review of the risk assessments they
had in place. These covered general risk, COSHH, manual handling and
fire. From this review a significant number of the assessments were
subsequently revisited and with help from MESH, updated to comply
with the relevant legislative requirements. Positive comments were
received by the home on the risk assessments, following a routine
inspection by the health authorities.
- MESH is responsible for keeping up-to-date the fire risk assessments that cover the operations at East Malling Research (EMR). These assessments cover conferencing facilities, offices, laboratories and farm operations. As the use of the facilities is changing it is important to ensure that fire risks are considered and that fire provisions are amended accordingly.
