MESH carry out Workplace Stress Risk Assessments for companies in a diverse range of industries throughout the UK.
Our Head Office is in Kent, with regional offices located in London, The Home Counties, The Midlands, and The North East.
HSE defines stress as "the adverse reaction people have to excessive
pressure or other types of demand placed on them". Pressure is
part and parcel of all work and helps to keep us motivated, but excessive
pressure can lead to stress which undermines performance, is costly
to employers and can make people ill. HSE research has indicated that:
- about half a million people in the UK experience work-related stress at a level they believe is making them ill;
- up to 5 million people in the UK feel "very" or "extremely" stressed by their work; and
- Cases of stress related ill-health leads to an average 29 days lost. A total of 13.4 million days were lost to stress, depression and anxiety in 2001.
The HSE have identified that stress must be managed just as any other workplace risk should be.
