It’s a question that we find many businesses don’t tend to consider but nevertheless something that could have long term consequences. If your business just does the same as other businesses around you then it’s likely that you will be falling short of what legislation requires.
Why are we so sure about this? The answer is that we have worked with many hundreds of businesses and have found too many don’t provide the required level of health & safety training to their managers and staff. Over the past few years, it’s been an easy cost saving target to remove what businesses see as non-essential training, yet without training your staff, how do you stay legally compliant.
If you look through most of UK health & safety legislation training, our staff are mentioned time and time again. Whether for managers, so they know what legislation applies to their work processes/work area, or for employees, to understand risk assessment, fire awareness, manual handling, DSE and many other aspects of health & safety.
So ask yourself what levels of training does your business deliver; does it cover what is really needed or are you (at best) just providing a basic awareness that is too quickly forgotten?
Why not take another look and rethink your approach if necessary because quality training well-presented can really pay off in the long term and of course ensure you are legally compliant.
