Martin Moy
MESH is run by Martin Moy, who is highly experienced in health & safety and environmental management. Martin started MESH in April 2004 following an extensive career in management, more latterly in the Health, Safety & Environmental field.
He describes himself as: -
"A proven, highly motivated experienced manager who possesses excellent communication, organisation, training and team-building skills."
Over the five years before starting MESH he developed an in-depth technical knowledge of health, safety and the environment in a corporate role for a large international company, operating in a high-risk environment, covering some nine sites across the U.K.
This role covered a number of operations, which included a paper mill, a chemical process plant, various manufacturing, engineering and laboratory operations and a corporate head office. Key elements of this role were to:
- Develop key policies
- Co-ordinate and deliver staff training
- Carry out audits, inspections and risk assessments
- Provide front-line contact with the regulatory authorities
This experience coupled with extensive training was instrumental in Martin achieving the status of Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner as recognised by the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and associate membership of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA). He includes amongst his qualifications and constantly updating knowledge:
- NEBOSH Diploma part 1
- NVQ 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice
- Diploma in Environmental Management
- D32/33 NVQ assessor
- Diploma in Management Studies

Chris Ward
Working with Martin at MESH is Chris Ward who has an extensive experience in health and safety spanning some 27 years. This experience extends to providing consultancy and training to various national organisations, including large multi-site operations.
These clients include various Local Authorities including Education and Social Services departments, the Kent Police Authority, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and many others. Chris spent 8 years as the national consultant to the RSPCA.
Chris is an experienced lead tutor for NEBOSH Diploma, General Certificate and Construction Certificate programmes and is a NEBOSH examiner.
He describes himself as: -
"An experienced health and safety professional who is totally committed to improving companies safety performance as well as taking a personal interest in ensuring success to all candidates at whatever level they are seeking to achieve."

Patrick Jongbloet
Patrick's twenty year career has covered three different industries (including stints with Eurotunnel and as a supplier to B-Sky-B, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Reuters Group, Sainsbury's, Waitrose, etc.). Delivering continuous improvement has been part of Patrick's remit, whatever his job title.
Patrick is vastly experienced in helping businesses to implement Health & Safety systems and achieve a proactive culture. He is as comfortable working at board level in a city corporate as he is in assisting a family run SME.
He describes himself as: -
"An innovative problem solver that works well at board level while fully understanding the operational aspects of the business"
Patrick holds a range of qualifications and memberships that include:

Prior to consultancy he worked as Group Director for Health-Safety-Environment, Quality, Training & Development in a medium size organisation (£40m turnover) in the Facilities Management services industry.
Since moving into consultancy in 2002, Patrick has worked on significant Health & Safety projects for Bankhall Associates, Resolution plc, Integrated Environmental Services, and George Green School, as well as advised and trained across the UK and in Europe on a wide range of health and safety topics.
David Haggarty
David has over thirty years management experience in various industries including pharmaceuticals, paper manufacture, and electro-mechanical engineering.
Prior to working in health and safety his background included project management for facilities refurbishment and construction companies.
He describes himself as: -
"A very experienced manager, committed to health & safety principles and their implementation to all aspects of the working environment."
David holds a range of qualifications and memberships that include:
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety & Health
- Membership of Institute of Management Services
- Membership MTM Association
In the recent past David has carried out extensive reviews for a major car manufacturer; covering ergonomics design issues & risk assessment on line assembly and warehouse operations.
Graham Ellicott
Graham is one of the MESH consultancy team; he is based out of Hampshire and carries out noise assessments across the country. Graham has worked in the acoustics market since the early 1980s both in North America and Europe.
He is a highly experienced noise consultant and includes in his experience the running of a group of companies that were ultimately owned by Rio Tinto plc, plus managing cement and concrete plants.
He describes himself as: -
"An experienced and innovative manager, committed to solving acoustic problems using the most cost-effective methods for the client."
Graham holds a range of qualifications and memberships that include:
- M.Sc. in Acoustics, Vibration and Noise Control
- Membership of Institute of Acoustics
- Chartered Scientist
Graham has a proven skill set that has been utilised by a number of clients to assist them with complex noise assessments across the U.K.
Gus Collins
Gus is one of the MESH consultancy team; he is based out of the North East and carries out a range of consultancy support including competent persons support to organisations, DSEAR, COSHH and Fire risk assessment. Gus is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner with thirty years of experience in the energy, pharmaceutical and chemical industry and was a fully-trained fire team leader for twenty years.
He is a highly experienced consultant and includes in his experience a strong risk assessment skill-set. He has used this to great effect to provide risk assessment services to a wide range of companies. Gus has an extensive background in chemical process safety management and continues to develop his fire engineering skill set.
Whilst working in a health and safety capacity in the highly regulated pharmaceutical and chemical industries, Gus not only developed an in-depth knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations but also honed excellent negotiation and organisational skills.
He describes himself as: -
"Self-motivated, astute and committed to achieving the clients goals. My years in management and technical roles – in a highly regulated industry – have equipped me with excellent negotiation and organisational skills."

Gus has a proven skill set that have been utilised by a number of clients to assist them with complex assessments such as DSEAR and Fire across the U.K. His chemical safety background has proven to be a real benefit to the clients MESH has worked for; this background is further complemented by his Fire engineer skill set (Gus holds IFE member status).
Mary Banfield
A recent addition to the MESH consultancy team Mary has management experience working within manufacturing industries; progressing from working within a laboratory environment to heading the Environmental Health and Safety team for a large International company.
Mary is experienced in carrying out all types of risk assessment including fire, DSE, manual handling and COSHH as well as environmental monitoring including noise and work place exposure levels. She is particularly experienced in the control of hazardous substances and holds a science degree to back up her health and safety knowledge.
Mary describes herself as:
"A multi-functional practitioner with a high level of experience and skills in both environmental and health and safety practice."
She is a Chartered Member of IOSH and holds a range of qualifications that include:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health
