About Risk Assessment Training
Risk management involves you, the employer, looking at the risks that arise in the workplace and then putting sensible health and safety measures in place to control them. By doing this you can protect your most valuable asset, your employees, as well as members of the public from harm.
A risk assessment is an important step in protecting your workers and your business, as well as complying with the law. It helps you focus on the risks that really matter in your workplace – the ones with the potential to cause real harm.
In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks, for example ensuring spillages are cleaned up promptly so people do not slip, or cupboard drawers are kept closed to ensure people do not trip. For most, that means simple, cheap and effective measures to ensure your most valuable asset – your workforce – is protected.
Results you should expect
HSE guidance on risk assessment identifies you should consult and involve your workforce, as they know first hand what the risks are and will often be able to offer practical solutions to controlling them. But to ensure you get the most from the feedback you receive from your staff will require at least some of your staff to be trained to understand what risk assessment is all about.
This is where we can help by providing your staff with the basic skills needed to assess the risks and make sensible decisions on what is needed.
To assist further we can provide simple to use formats and procedures for your staff to follow; or alternatively we can build in your own formats and procedures into the training.
If your organisation needs training in other risk assessment areas such as COSHH, DSE, PUWER etc. please contact us for a free no obligation discussion.

In 2009 MESH were asked to develop and deliver a risk assessment training session for one of the production teams at the Discovery Channel to cover risk assessment on location whilst filming. This session was designed to provide the team with:
- An overview of health, safety and risk management issues on location/production.
- An understanding of risk assessment and how to complete a risk assessment form.
The session was designed to be delivered as a one day course and was attended by 20 staff. The training was designed to be as interactive as possible and included opportunities for the staff to undertake a risk assessment and to record their findings.
