What’s your New Year’s (health & safety) resolution?

  • Home
  • Attitude toward Health and Safety

January 5, 2015

We know that many businesses are busy trying to stay in front of the game and that for some, the focus is on fire fighting and that unless there is a perceived problem then Health & Safety is not always a key focus. However why not take the opportunity of the start of the year to make a few health & safety resolutions for 2015?

We think that every business would benefit from setting itself with realistic goals and publishing them to their workers and other stakeholders. Certainly experience of working with clients across the UK who have introduced such an approach has shown this to provide a clarity that the business has never had before. Such clarity and focus has then helped drive the business (and the staff) to achieve the desired health & safety targets they had set themselves. In many cases the businesses have moved from struggling to be legally compliant to a position of best practice.

Defining what you want to happen rather than leaving it to chance could help take your business to a new level in its health & safety performance. But you need to set out really clear goals that you are prepared to be held accountable for; so what are you waiting for!
