Do you consider the risks of overseas business travel?

  • Home
  • Risk Assessments

June 23, 2015

At a recent IOSH organised event, the topic of discussion was on the risks associated with overseas business travel and how to overcome them.  The speakers stressed the importance of considering the challenges and risks presented from people travelling to all parts of the globe.

We have a number of clients where overseas travel is a routine event and have worked with them to introduce systems and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their staff.  Is this something that happens in your business and if so what measures does your business employ to manage potential risks?

At the IOSH event the speakers covered a number of areas businesses should consider including:

  • Health risks to the area visited;
  • Understanding the different environments and cultures;
  • The best ways to respond if an incident was to occur.

IOSH stressed that the responsibility for ensuring international business trips go without incident is fast becoming a feature of the modern day safety & health role.  However, in our experience we know this is still often overlooked and could have major consequences on a business if the unthinkable was to occur.  Perhaps it’s time to take a look at what happens in your business!
