We have recently been speaking with a client who is finding that keeping their COSHH assessments up to date a very difficult task. The problem for them is that they use a large number of hazardous substances across multiple sites and COSHH requires a lot of effort to keep the assessments current.
They already pay for a service that helps to provide them with the very latest Safety Data Sheets (SDS) but this doesn’t constitute a COSHH assessment and requires additional resources they are struggling to find. This isn’t unusual in our experience and we work with a number of large businesses to provide the expertise and additional support to keep their COSHH assessments current.
The benefits they have is that it frees up time in the business and gives them access to COSHH experts; something many businesses don’t have within the business.
Working with hazardous substances is very often an area too easily overlooked; that’s because the impact isn’t usually immediately apparent. Also, as many employees don’t understand the risks, simple health & safety measures are missing and longer term health problems can develop. A well thought out COSHH assessment should consider these issues and ensure that both short term and longer term health is protected.
If your business is one of those struggling with COSHH then why not find out how your life could be made easier?
