MESH worked with management and staff at the large Whatman manufacturing facility in Banbury, Oxfordshire to address the issue of stress. Management were concerned that the pressure the business was under was adversely affecting attendance and performance. Training was provided that addressed not only the signs that managers need to be aware of, but also how staff could manage their own stress levels. Management were provided with simple to use risk assessment checklists, that looked at what the HSE identify as the 7 key factors to managing stress. Management subsequently reported an improvement in both morale and attendance.
