The focus of the DSEAR for BBF is upon arrangements for transporting and processing of potentially explosive raw materials and equipment used to collect dust from the environment.
When considering hazardous area classification for dusts, housekeeping to prevent the build up of dust layers that could form a damaging secondary explosion, is the major factor in limiting the size of hazardous zones outside of equipment. A small number of improvement actions were reported to management that needed to be addressed including issues such as the suitability of filtration filters, means to clean up spills, explosion protection and routine inspection of static controls.
