The Aeropak manufacturing plant at Great Yarmouth has been part of the Diomed Group since its acquisition in 1998. The Company specialises in volatile pharmaceuticals products, and supplies a large number of medicines for the NHS.
The company was concerned that several of the substances used on site in the manufacturing activities are highly flammable or flammable and would fall under DSEAR.
It was found that some of the chemicals used, contain substances which can spontaneously combust if allowed to dry out. However the use of these and other chemicals has been recognised in plant design and measures have been incorporated throughout process and material handling areas to limit the risk of harm.
Through our detailed on site review we were able to identify what improvement opportunities existed and what changes should be made to improve compliance with DSEAR.
